MELBOURNE'S TRUSTED PAINTERS OVER 18 YEARS

Melbourne House Painter

Melbourne House Painter – It’s Bill from Melbourne City Maintenance, and here we are at this beautiful weatherboard home in Caulfield. The first part of the process is weatherboard repairs and then we are going through the process of sanding and preparing this home for the exterior painting. It has been a number of years since the last coat, and the client has asked us to grab some samples so they can choose the color for the new coat.

We are going around checking all the weatherboards, confirming they are in good condition. When they’re not, we’re filling all gaps and cracks, punching nails, and replacing any rotten weatherboards. There are a few on this home, but not too many, which is a good thing. We’ve checked them all, sanded them back to see where the flaking paint was, and removed the flaking paint. For instance, that big spot there; we’ll replace a few weatherboards on that side with rot.

Once the new weatherboards are on, we’ll sand and prep the rest of the house, fill any gaps, and punch any nail holes. We’ll check all the windows to ensure they open and close properly.

Sand them so that we can make them work smoothly and prepare them for their second coat of paint. We’re not painting the front fence of this house because it will soon be replaced with a brand new one, and we’ll come back at a later stage to paint the new fence.

This is a beautiful home that has recently had its front deck removed and replaced. We will not be painting the front deck because it is still quite wet in Melbourne, and we’re going to leave it for the timber to settle and cure over the next few months. We’ll come back and paint it later on.

In the back, you can see that there’s a lot more weatherboard damage that needs to be replaced. This particular home had a new veranda installed on the back of the house, and that’s why these posts are here. The carpenter has just finished repairing and restoring the rear balcony.

And we’re going to prepare all the bare timber to ensure it’s ready for a new coat of paint. We’ll paint the whole place and also get behind the glass, so we need to liaise with the glass company to remove it for a day.

As the rear wall is quite high, around seven to eight meters off the ground, we’ll arrange the appropriate safety equipment to ensure everyone is safe. The deck underneath will also be painted to seal all the timber around the wet areas of the swimming pool, preventing it from rotting and retaining moisture. The back deck is in quite good condition and only requires preparation to make it look amazing. The timber will need at least three coats – an undercoat and two top coats – to ensure it’s properly sealed.

After that, we’ll attend to all the other windows at the back of the house. They’re in reasonable condition and have been partially prepared already. We’ll continue the preparation until we’re completely satisfied that the house has been prepared to the correct standard. We’ll also fill gaps and cracks like the ones you can see here to minimize water penetration.

Here’s the after photo or video, and you can see what an amazing transformation it has undergone. The house is really standing out, and the trim work is popping, painted in Dulux Natural White, while the walls are painted in Haymes Nantucket. This particular color will really make the house stand out and be noticeable when you pass by in your car.

All the weatherboards on this side of the home have been replaced and repaired, and there are no longer any blemishes or bad sections at the back of the house. We prepared everything using the right tools and time to ensure that the place will be sealed and safe from weather penetration for at least 10 years.

Just look at how amazing it looks! This is an awesome reveal, and I’m really excited about this result. The client was ecstatic, which is the most important thing. You can see at the back here that all the new weatherboards have been painted over, and you can’t tell the difference between old and new. The back deck and surrounding area look amazing.

All the underneath of the deck and the balustrading were painted, with most of it done from ladders on the ground. The high sections were done using scaffolding to ensure that everyone working on the site can go home safely every day.

Don’t take any unnecessary risks. This is the most amazing shot, and it’s the part of the house that’s visible from the swimming pool, so it’s now worth looking at. It turned out fantastic, and we’re so excited to be handing over this home to the client.
