Melbourne City Maintenance is a service-area business. We travel to you — there is no shopfront to visit, and no callout fee for coming out to look at a job.
We work across Melbourne’s inner north and inner city, roughly within ten kilometres of the CBD. That is deliberate. Staying inside one area is what lets us know the housing stock before we arrive — which cracks in a Victorian terrace matter, where rot starts on a north-facing weatherboard, and which streets you cannot get a van down.

Suburbs We Work In
Each of these has its own page covering the work we usually do there.
- Carlton 3053 — Victorian terraces, decorative plaster, heritage overlay
- North Melbourne 3051 — cottages, warehouse conversions and apartments with lift and loading dock access
- Abbotsford 3067 — workers’ cottages and converted industrial buildings near the river
- Clifton Hill 3068 — Victorian and Edwardian homes, much of it heritage-controlled
- Northcote 3070 — weatherboard country, and a lot of it needing timber repair before paint
- Thornbury 3071 — Californian bungalows and weatherboards
- Preston 3072 — post-war brick and weatherboard, plus newer townhouses
- Fairfield 3078 — Edwardian and interwar homes; see also weatherboard repairs in Fairfield
- Ivanhoe 3079 — established weatherboard and brick homes on larger blocks
- Richmond 3121 — terraces and weatherboard cottages, often on tight frontages
We also work regularly in Fitzroy, Carlton North, Collingwood, Brunswick, Parkville, Kensington and Coburg. Those do not have their own pages yet — call us and ask.
If You Are Just Outside
Ask. The ten kilometre line is a guide, not a rule, and we travel further for the right job — particularly weatherboard repair and larger exterior work, which is what we are known for. What we will not do is pretend to be local somewhere we rarely work. If you are far enough out that we would not be able to come back quickly when something needs attention, we will say so.
How We Work Wherever You Are
No callout fee. You are not charged for us turning up to look at the job.
No same-day work. We agree a start date with you based on what the job needs and what is already booked. Most enquiries get an answer the same day.
Quoting. Painting is quoted after seeing the property — photographs hide the things that decide the price. Handyman and repair work can usually be given a rough guide over the phone or from a few photos, confirmed on the day.
What We Do Across All of Them
- Interior painting — whole houses, single rooms, ceilings and decorative plaster
- Exterior painting — including the preparation that decides how long it lasts
- Weatherboard and timber repairs — rot and failed boards replaced, not covered over
- Handyman work — booked as a half day or a full day
- Strata and common property
- Commercial painting
